    The Densmore brothers started the oil company in July 1863 with its headquarters near Meadville. They made tank cars for transporting oil from the oil fields to refineries at a considerable saving over other delivery methods. The tank cars had many problems with leaking and stability. The company lasted only a short time as better cars were made by other companies.
