    Description

Made in 1998, this is a 24-harness loom with stainless steel heddles. It has about double the number of a current provided with a standard used AVL, plus the options listed: sliding beater with reed, plain warm beam (with apron but rod was not provided then), clothe storage system with apron reeds (this means the beam you wrap the cloth on as you advance) and, additionally, we provide a bench that AVL does not. NOTE: I need to double-check the loom width but we believe it is 20. I will also be checking the reed(s) and dent of what we will provide with the loom.
AVL only provides a 1-year warranty on parts but lifetime support, but only with the original buyer. I hear they are not keen on people selling their AVLs on, but we cannot afford to sell it for a pittance, we have costs related to my Mother's healthcare. She has been a weaver 40+ years and is 81. We still have 2 more looms and then hope to sell her wheels.
We have the original AVL manual  with serial number, instructions, etc. As you will see in the picture, she has made it work fine for many years. The computer is a Thinkpad, running 2002 Windows and the software is Fiberworks PCW 4.1. A good friend who works in computers says if the computer were to go, you can somehow get a newer computer to run on a mock-up of the older system. But, of course, you can also use the loom without the computer aspect at all. We would leave patterns and the Fiberworks software on the computer, I just need to pull off my Mom's personal files and other programs. The box on the side Mom never used, she didn't like it. She opted to use the small box on the top, but not being a weaver, cannot tell you much. You would obviously be welcome to come try the loom in the former studio before purchasing. I know some would want to use the side AVL box, others not. All I can say is, one does not need it to use it for computer assisted weaving, and that's about the end of my knowledge!
The loom is quite heavy and does not fold. Therefore, it would have to be picked up in something like a larger vehicle or partly disassembled for transport. We are located halfway in the middle of PA, between Erie and Pittsburgh in the West, less than half an hour from the Ohio line.
We are willing to entertain offers but wish to leave the listing up long enough to see what interest is out there. Thank you for looking!
(For reference a new AVL Studio Dobby costs over ,000 with 24 shafts at this width. A used, refitted one would still be 00 plus no doubt taxes, etc.)
