1950S VTG UNUSED CARD TONI PONY TAIL SET 2 LG BARRETTES Gold & Silver Tone Metal

These clips are in excellent condition - unused, one made from gold tone metal and one from silver tone. They originally had a foam rubber backing, which has disintegrated completely on one (the gold tone) and hardened and disintegrating on the other - on the backs of the clips. The remnants of the foam rubber can be easily removed. This foam backing was meant to keep the clips in place. A ponytail was the ONLY hair style of the 1950's, for little girls, teens and young women. EVERYONE had a pony tail! It is, of course, still a popular hair style. These clips are on their original card, which has some slight creases, age discolorations, and wear. They originally cost 29 cents, and were made by Gillette, sold under their brand Toni, which was MOST famous for their home permanents. (My Mother gave me a home permanent by Toni, and it was an unmitigated disaster). This same company made the "Toni" dolls, that were really popular. You could put your hair in a ponytail with these clips, and have your doll with matching hair. The clips measure 1 1/4 across, and don't appear to have ever been off the card.

I hate adding more garbage to the environment; if you receive a box from me that has been used before, I am "recycling". I will make sure it's sturdy and the item well packaged. I will ensure your item will arrive in good condition, but the box may not be pretty (or it might be - I have to buy boxes, as well). All shipping within the US is free to you. All my packages are tracked, but if for some reason you don't receive your item or it arrives broken, I will refund your money.
